Where is the shared party boundary line?


Boundaries between properties can become contentious and a time consuming issue to solve. Our initial client was on one side of the boundary and was in the throes of selling his house. The in-going purchaser’s solicitors noticed an anomaly in the shared boundary. JFCS were appointed originally as ‘expert surveyor’ to determine the boundary line.

This instruction was converted into a ‘single joint expert’ instruction with JFCS working for both sides. By agreement of both parties, JFCS proposed a new boundary demarcation and the house sale was then enabled to proceed to a satisfactory conclusion. The matter was dealt with swiftly on this occasion, with both parties extremely satisfied with the results. It doesn’t always go this way!
